Tomorrow starts The Historian

It's an overall timeline and biography of Vlad Tepes in his notorious time during the Middle Ages. He was son to Prince Vlad Dracul (Vlad the Devil), and he is rumored to have murdered over 40,000 people by impaling them. Gruesome but these were different times...do you think this brutal measure was effective warfare for this time period?

In my part of the world it's already Monday and I started reading last night. It's also supposed to be warmer Spring weather but we've had a weekend of violent storms and it's still very cold.
I've been googling as I go - lots of fascinating subjects to research.
I just finished reading Dracula last Friday. I look forward to seeing where The Historian leads. A cup of coffee is the way to go for me, and the weather turning cooler...Fall is in the air. :D
I'm really interested in reading this especially as I am part way through Dracula right now (and loving it!). I won't be able to join in on 26ht though as I am away so is it OK to post after those dates? Will people still be joining in later do you think?
It's still very hot in Mississippi so I probably won't be drinking tea or coffee when I read. I'll probably get most of my reading in when I'm finally alone in the evening after every one else has gone to bed. I read Dracula long ago and am reading Dracula My Love right now. It's a fast read though so it won't hinder my progress on The Historian!! Can't wait till next Sunday!
I've actually never read Stoker's Dracula, though I do love the classic silent film based on it, Nosferatu.
I've got the audio book and hope to keep up with the schedule even while on a 3 week vacation!
I started reading tonight and got through chapter 5 - it's really good so far! My weather isn't exactly cool yet but its getting there ... it should be perfect for creepy reading in about 2 weeks.
Cat -- Yes, this is definitely one of those "Google-as-you-go books," that's for sure!
ibeeg -- Dracula was wonderful, wasn't it? I'd be interested to hear what you think on if reading the classic first helped to feel more grounded in reading The Historian, or if wouldn't matter for you. I read the class a few years after reading Kostova's work.

Tedious & Brief -- Now that would be a good idea for us to watch the film Nosferatu! That should surely add to the RIP V Challenge and the creepy fall weather feeling pre-Halloween, huh?!
Nisè -- I've always struggled with audio books (short attention span...), but I would really love to hear your thoughts on how the listening adds to the overall feeling of the book's setting. Keep us posted!!

I am a bit ahead, Ch.21. Hope that's okay, I have my Book Group book to squeeze in also. I must say I am finding the book interesting but rather gruesome. I could live without those parts.!
